September 2020
More photos and videos from September can be found in this link here.
There is not much new to report this month, most of our routines have stayed about the same. As usual, many evenings and weekends have been spent outside taking advantage of some great weather. Here are some places we've been to that you'll see in some of the photos.
The Hudson Highland Nature Museum in Cornwall is a nice nature area with mowed walking trails and a couple of ponds surrounding an education center for kids. A couple times this month we've picked up slices of pizza from a nearby pizzeria and taken it over to this place to eat at a picnic table, then walked along the trails. We rarely see other people there. Sometimes Alex likes to run as in one of the videos below, sometimes he likes to be pushed in the stroller. But he always likes pizza, and always likes to be outside.
The Walkway Over the Hudson State Park in Highland is a popular 1.5 mile pedestrian bridge over the Hudson River that we go to often. It seems to be new, or newly renovated and Ales likes to alternately run at full speed and be pushed in the stroller along that path. We also explored the nearby Franny Reese State Park that has connected trails that take you to views of the pedestrian bridge as well as the other nearby bridge that cars drive on. You'll see in one of the videos below where a snake crossed our path. It looks like an eastern copperhead rattlesnake which are apparently common in that area.
The Orange County Farmers Museum was a new place we checked out, which didn't have much going on when we arrived besides some antique tractors. But that's what we came for, because as you probably know, Alex loves tractors. Other days they do tractor pull competitions and other activities.
The Orange County Arboretum is always a favorite. It's not a huge garden, but grounds and trails are so nicely landscaped and there always seems to be flowers in bloom there. It's a great place for a walk.
The first day or two of the month we were all at the house in Endwell, but no family trips out of the apartment this month besides that. As usual though, I go to the house once a week to run the AirBnB and go to the office one day a week. At this point, we usually have guests staying in our house every weekend, sometimes for as long as a week which is always nice.
Aside from that, not much else to report this month besides boring stuff like getting new tires for the Prius and stuff like that. Next month we'll be sure to have lots of great photos of the lovely Fall colors in the Hudson Valley, which we are beginning to see a taste of right now.
The oddest things make him laugh sometimes.
Snake encounter, looks like a copperhead.
